Planet MTB started with a simple idea — what if we took the Joyride experience overseas?

In early 2026, we floated the idea of taking a group of riders to Queenstown for a Joyride MTB trip. The response was far bigger than we expected, and what was originally going to be one great mountain bike holiday quickly started turning into something much bigger.

As we began putting the trip together, we started speaking with brands, bike parks, guides, coaches, local businesses and other people across the mountain bike industry. One conversation led to another, more partners wanted to get involved, and we realised there was an opportunity to create something that didn’t really exist in mountain bike travel.

That’s how Planet MTB was born.

Built by the team behind Joyride MTB, with support and input from our local partnering businesses, Planet has one goal:

To create premium mountain bike tours to the best bike parks in the world.

We take care of the stuff that can make an overseas riding trip difficult — accommodation, transport, riding plans, local knowledge, bike logistics and all the little details in between — while bringing in world-class local guides, coaches and partners (as well as the Joyride Crew) to unlock experiences you simply wouldn’t find travelling on your own.

Every tour is intentionally limited to just 12 riders so it feels like a proper riding trip with a group of mates. Small groups mean better riding, more flexibility and a level of service that lets us properly look after everyone.

And for those coming across from Joyride, you’ll feel right at home.

Planet MTB is its own brand, but the same crew, atmosphere and standards that have built Joyride are at the heart of it. Joyride will continue doing what it does best in Australia — coaching riders, running races and growing the sport — while Planet takes that experience to some of the best riding destinations on earth.
